The process typically begins in petrochemical plants, such as the Shazand Petrochemical Plant, where the fatty alcohol undergoes ethoxylation. Following this, a sulfonation process is employed to produce the final SLES product.

Once synthesized, SLES is packed in 160 kg plastic drums to facilitate easy transportation and handling. This packaging ensures that the surfactant remains uncontaminated and retains its effectiveness during transit.
